We continue talking about names of animals applied to people or things:
WEASEL means somebody you cannot trust to: “That weasel would say one thing to your face and something quite different behind your back.
WEASEL OUT means to avoid responsibility or duty: he saw he would have to pay for this and obviously was trying to weasel out.
TURKEY is a bad thing, or a thing that failed: “His last book was a turkey”. Or: The sportsman had another attempt but it was a turkey (meaning that it failed).
DEAD DUCK is close in meaning: it means the thing that was known to fail from the very start: “Your new project was clearly a dead duck from the start
