In some form or another sport is an important part of the Englishman's daily life. About 29 million people over the age of 16 regularly take part in sports or exercise. The most popular are walking (including rambling and hiking), swimming, snooker/pool, keep fit/yoga and cycling. Women's participation has grown significantly over the last few years, even into traditionally male-dominated activities like football and rugby.
